Field Testing for Ozone.

Vegetative barriers, which include trees and bushes, can help reduce pollution near busy highways and roads. As part of EPA's research on this topic, K-5 lesson plans and activities have been developed that focus on air quality, air sensors, air pollution, and the impact of air pollution on human health. Each lesson contains an in-class activity as well as a field experience activity which requires the use of stationary and/or mobile sensors.

In this lesson, students will build birds to hang outside and then mesure the amount of dirt, or "pollution" they collected. They will learn about air pollution and how it may affect us in our daily lives.

In this lesson, students will learn about air pollution, demonstrate its presence in the air around us and hypothesize on its sources. They will do so by taking a "walking" field trip in the area around the school and build particle pollutants catchers.
