RadTown Radioactive Atom Activity 1 : Atomic Discoveries.

Students will learn about the delicate balance of forces that hold an atom together while electromagnetic forces try to pull the nucleus apart. They will demonstrate the concept of the strong nuclear force and discuss what occurs when the balance of forces is upset.

Students will use information from the periodic table to calculate the number of protons, neutrons and electrons in a neutral atom.

Students will learn what happens as atoms attempt to reach stability.
